Division of Quality and Safety
The vision of quality and safety at Virginia Commonwealth University provides continuous quality improvement and quality assurance for patients through education, innovation, and research. It is our goal to be the safest environment that optimizes quality in patient outcomes. VCU community has nearly 60% minority patients, we aim to eliminate health care disparities that have been worsened by Social Determinants of Health. We strived to be patient-centric, providing families with shared decision-making and applying evidence-based guidelines throughout the perioperative period. Incorporated in our goals is the optimization of the Enhance Recovery After Surgery/Pathways development.
Interdisciplinary teams allow us to provide seamless, efficient, and timely care. VCU Perioperative Quality metrics and patients’ experience surveys reflect continuous improvement.
